Digital Dental x-rays in Our Plano TX Dentist Office

Cosmetic Smile Simulations

See your new smile in a matter of hours. Smile-Vision is a technologically advanced cosmetic imaging system that allows our patients to see actual images of themselves and their new smiles before treatment even begins. See your smile right away!

3D X-rays

Unlike traditional X-rays, these allow for three-dimensional viewing of the jaw bone, jaw joints, and sinuses. All films needed for surgery, joint problems, orthodontics, and routine care can be taken under the same roof without referral to a special facility for patient convenience – very few offices can do this. These X-rays allows= for safer, more precise surgical planning.

Surgical Magnification

Surgical magnification makes esthetic enhancement better because Dr. Chen and Dr. Sowell get an up-close view of the artistry he’s creating. It increases surgical comfort because it enhances accuracy, reducing the time they need to perform each procedure. It also helps with gum disease prevention techniques.

Intraoral Camera

This is not only a diagnostic tool for Dr. Chen and Dr. Sowell but an educational supplement for you. This camera looks like an oversized pen and magnifies the surface areas of the teeth. It helps Dr. Chen and Dr. Sowell locate small pits and cracks that might be harboring disease. This up-close information is immediately available to both you, Dr. Chen, and Dr. Sowell on a TV monitor in the private room.

This visual feedback also helps you to see certain features in your mouth and better understand Dr. Chen’s and Dr. Sowell’s recommendations. For instance, it’s possible to see the damage caused by old metal amalgam fillings that expand and contract and can cause cracking and breaking.

Ultra-High-Intensity Micro-Illumination Crack Detector

Frustrated by the inadequate lighting of regular dental lights, Dr. Sowell was one of the first doctors in the world to seek out and adopt new cordless LED ultra-high-powered lighting.

As we get older, cracks are more likely to form in our teeth. If not detected and treated, these cracks can lead to sudden fractures. In some cases, the treatment must be a root canal or even loss of the tooth.

Dr. Sowell, Dr. Chen, and their team use this new high-intensity micro-light to illuminate teeth from the inside out! It allows these catastrophic cracks to be seen with the eye, which can minimize tooth loss or the need for root canals.

This light is so strong it allows Dr. Chen and Dr. Sowell to see some types of decay that are difficult to detect, even on x-rays. This great tool improves diagnosis, enhances accuracy, and, most importantly, reduces your chances of surgery and other complex procedures.

Laser Cavity Detection

Detecting tooth cavities is an inexact science. Fortunately, the best technology gives us a better view of disease at an earlier stage.

With Sedation Dentistry, You Feel Nothing!

Even the most fearful patients can say goodbye to the white-knuckle experience of going to the dentist. Dr. Sowell and Dr. Chen offer a variety of sedation dentistry techniques to help you relax and get the dental care you need.

No-Drill Dentistry

Our no-drill dentistry is a leap into the future that allows the removal of dental decay without the dreaded whine of the drill and often without the needle, too!

Dental Laser

We use laser dentistry technology in our Plano, TX, dentist’s office to gently and effectively treat the ravages of gum disease, usually without anesthesia. Learn about our WaterLase iPlus technology.

Needle-Free Anesthetic

This new type of anesthetic allows the numbing of gum tissue for comfort during deep cleanings without the need for the old-fashioned “stick” of the dental needle. It has been featured on NBC’s Today Show and in SELF magazine. Dr. Sowell is proud to be one of the first doctors to adopt its use.

Advanced Local Antibiotics

For clients undergoing treatment to halt infections in the gum and bones that cause tooth loss, our hygienist often uses a type of antibiotic that is completely painless. This means the antibiotic is more effective because the infection is “hit hard” by its direct application to the problem. It also means that you don’t expose your whole body to an antibiotic so that medicine will remain more effective in the future against bacteria.

Medical Topical Anesthetic Pastes

Say goodbye to feeling the dreaded anesthetic needle. Dr. Chen and Dr. Sowell use a medical breakthrough that is a special medical-grade anesthetic paste. It allows for completely painless injections. Patients can’t believe that they just had a shot!

One-Visit Root Canals

The root canal is a procedure that has kept many people away from the dental office – including those who might not need one – due to the bad reputation behind the term. Much of the fear came not so much from the discomfort but from the technique used. In many offices, it’s still a manual and imprecise mechanical process.

At Aesthetic Dentistry Centre, Dr. Sara Chen and Dr. Mark Sowell use the latest technology. They can precisely locate the apex of the root electronically and with a computer-controlled device. They can then remove the damaged or diseased root efficiently and more comfortably.

DNA Testing for Long-Term Risk of Tooth Loss

This helps our patients save their teeth and reach a higher level of overall body health. It helps determine a more customized approach to our patients’ periodontal care with better intervals and/or periodontal therapy. It improves the results from periodontal therapy with the addition of targeted systemic antibiotics aimed at the patients’ bacteria, which saves them from losing all their teeth.

Rapid-Treatment Braces

Advanced orthopedic appliances are for adults and children to improve orthodontic treatment results that help ensure that muscles, ligaments, and jaw joints are taken into consideration instead of the traditional “straightening” of the teeth-only concept. These appliances are more physiologically comfortable, with healthier results. They increase long-term treatment success and reduce the need for extractions.
