What Are The Benefits of Having a Dental Implant Procedure?
Dental Implants have many long-term benefits for patients. They offer a stable and natural-looking solution to missing teeth. They can replace the missing tooth without having to disrupt the surrounding healthy teeth as required when placing a bridge.
Dental implants can help to prevent deterioration of periodontal health, bone structure, and bite. Implants give patients confidence that their teeth are secure and will not slip while speaking or eating. Commonly, patients report having more confidence and a higher quality of life after replacing missing teeth or dentures with dental implants.
What Are The Alternatives To Dental Implants?
Yes. You may use bridges, dentures, or partial dentures to replace missing teeth. These are removable options that require special fittings and cleaning. Dr. Sowell will help determine what restorative dental procedure is right for your missing teeth. You may also opt to not replace your missing teeth.
This is not recommended as missing teeth can lead to infection, bone loss, and other complex dental health concerns.
Will My Diet Be Limited After My Dental Implant Procedure?
It is always recommended to restrict your diet to soft foods for a few days after your implant procedure. Your bone structure needs time to heal and secure the titanium posts. Eating difficult to chew food can irritate the healing process.
After about a week, you can resume your normal diet. Dr. Sowell will discuss specific post-surgery procedures with you.
What Material Are Implants Made Of?
Dr. Sowell uses only the most advanced technology and materials in all dental restorations. Dental implants are made of either titanium or a titanium alloy and topped with a ceramic dental crown. Today’s modern dental implant materials offer more natural and aesthetically pleasing results.
Many patients say people can not tell the difference between their implant and their natural teeth.
Are Dental Implants Permanent?
With proper maintenance and care, your dental implants could last for over 30 years. Although decay is not possible in dental implants it is important to maintain the health of the surrounding gums, teeth, and bone to ensure a long-lasting implant.
How Much Pain Will The Dental Implant Procedure?
Dr. Sowell is a certified sedation dentist. Offering several different methods of sedation dentistry, our team will work to ease your dental anxiety and reduce pain to a minimum. Many of our patients are surprised at how painless the procedure and healing process is.
